Atlantic Beach Wet Down Ceremony

Atlantic Beach Fire Department, Atlantic Beach NC

Many fire departments celebrate the ritual of a Wet Down ceremony to celebrate the commission of a new fire apparatus by having their neighboring departments by spraying down the new apparatus with the visitors’ equipment.

I had the pleasure of covering the Wet Down Ceremony for Engine 4, aka The War Wagon, for Atlantic Beach Fire Department.

After the Wet Down, the members of ABFD pushed E4 into it’s new home in the station.

Week One: Breaking the Rule of Thirds

The key to growing as a photographer is to always be shooting and to keep challenging yourself.  I have decided to challenge myself by following a 52 week shooting challenge. Each week there will be a different word or phrase to use as                                 inspiration to create a image.

I hope everyone enjoys following me throughout the year as I post each week’s image.

Week One: Breaking the Rule of Thirds

Week 2 - Daily WM-11-2

This one was hard for me.  I am a stickler for shooting with the Rule of Thirds in mind!

Savannah turns ONE!

Can I just start by saying that I love getting back in touch with my old friends?         One reason is that many of them have started families and now have some precious children that I get to take pictures of!

Take one of my oldest friends Valerie for example.  (I’ve known her since preschool.)  Her and her hubby, Jamie, have the cutest little girl, Savannah,                                   who just turned ONE in October!

I mean, look at those cheeks!  Don’t you want to just squeeze them?  😉 And doesn’t she just make the cutest Mini Mouse? And Savannah did great during the photo session.   She wasn’t in too much of a mood to cheese, but she was in pretty interested in the camera though! One thing that she did NOT like was that pumpkin stilling upright!  Savannah kept rolling the pumpkin over!                                                                 (This made for some interesting outtakes for the session. lol)

Lexie – Sunset Session

Lexie was nice enough to be my model for a Sunset Session that I wanted to do.  I drove down to Beaufort and met up with her this past weekend.  After passing the farm path twice, we finally found where we needed to go.  We got there just in time for the beautiful Down East sunset.

Lexie is absolutely gorgeous! I don’t think she can take a bad picture.

The sunset was absolutely perfect.

Then we moved to move of the experimental/dramatic section of the session.  I shot these in an old, empty farm house, and then we moved to a beach house in Emerald Isle for the pool images.

Thanks Lexie for being such a great model!

Kelly’s Bridal Session – Southport, NC

Yay!  I finally get to post Kelly’s Bridal Session we took a few weeks before her wedding in Southport, NC.   Kelly, Christy and I started out at the Southport museum.

Then we headed to the grounds beside the Community Building, right next to where Kelly and Keith were going to get married.

There is a small beach access right across the street from the museum are so we headed there next.

ImageGood thing we got all the shots in that we wanted before the rain came!

P.S.  Let me just state how beautiful the bride is and how lucky I was to be the Maid of Honor!

 ❤ you Kelly!

Sweet Georgia Peaches <3

Want to know what is more precious than newborn babies?  Nothing!

When Jodi told me that she was expecting again I informed her that I was going to HAVE to do a newborn session for the baby! (Really, I didn’t give her a choice lol)

This was my first newborn session that I have done, so I was a bit nervous.  The baby, Georgia Grace, did amazingly well!

Just look at those sweet little lips!

Jodi, she is so beautiful! Thank you so much for letting me do this session!

Not just behind the camera…..

I really do NOT like to be in front of the camera, but a fellow photographer got together the other day and did photo shoots of each other!

Karrie Drake from Karrie Drake Photography did a great job with her images of me!

She got me out of my comfort zone!  Ask my friends how often I wear dresses, in public,  let myself be photographed AND then post the images on Facebook!  lol

BUT…..

I also got to photography Karrie!

Look how beautiful she is!

She has a little sassiness going on here  😉

I really love this shot too!

Thank you Karrie!  I had a great time ❤
